skinny jeans & a giveaway...

GAP: born to fit!

GAP: born to fit!

[linkage to my skinny jeans, here!]

I was recently given the opportunity to be a Gap Brand Enthusiast - which is, um, the greatest thing ever. Thanks to Gap and Brand About Town, I've been able to get some ridiculously awesome things from Gap (for freee!) and was also able to throw a ridiculously awesome party in Hollywood with a bunch of my friends. Who would have thought that I'd be given such an amazing opportunity, simply because of my blog? Definitely nothing I ever planned on.

Let's just say I've pretty much been in non-stop "SQUEEEE!" mode for a while now.

The party in Hollywood was definitely one of the highlights of this whole thing. I co-hosted my party with Nicole, and had a lovely time! We were pretty much treated like celebrities for an evening, which every girl should experience at least once. (Or seventeen times.) They treated us to dinner at The Ivy beforehand (I was seriously disappointed at the lack of celeb action - I mean, where is an Olsen Twin or Twilight cast member when you need one? SERIOUSLY.) and then we headed over to the Gap store on Robertson Blvd. that was closed to the public for the evening, and open for just the ladies at the party!

Highlights of the evening:

  • Every person receiving a coupon for a FREE PAIR OF JEANS AHHHH.
  • Random dudes walking around with mini grilled cheese sandwiches, brownie bits dipped in chocolate, other random tiny foods that were seriously delightful, and mmmm...wine!
  • Hanging out with a bunch of my friends all under one roof (which was slightly overwhelming because I am SO NOT GOOD at parties and trying to make sure I mingle with everyone - hello, panic attack).
  • The amazing employees who helped everyone find just the right pair of jeans.
  • Free digital camera! Free flip video camera! Gahhh!
  • Taking forever to decide on what pair of jeans to get because I'm apparently a non-decision maker. (Thankfully I was surrounded by a bunch of people who helped me decide on some adorable skinny jeans - as seen in the photos above!)

The whole experience really changed my view of the Gap brand - and I'm not just saying that because they gave me free jeans. Honestly, I haven't really shopped there since I was sixteen and sweater vests were in style (because they had the best sweater vests, obviously). I always saw their clothes as "older" and didn't think that they would really appeal to me as a twenty-something. Also, I am always wary about jeans in general, because shopping for jeans is the devil and I can rarely find a good length or fit.

Having said all that, I definitely recommend this new line of jeans. (Check out all the styles heeeere!) From what I saw, and from the feedback I heard from the other ladies at the party, I know the jeans are high quality - and worth the $60-$70 pricetag. I'm a total cheapskate when it comes to clothes, but I think we all know that when you find the perfect pair of jeans, it's work the little extra. (And these are much cheaper than a freaking designer pair!) I say at least give a pair of these babies a whirl! They had so many fits and styles - all ridiculously gorgeous. And also? I WEAR A SIZE TWO. WHAT. Apparently their sizes run large, so you'll be able to squeeze your bootie into a smaller size than your used to, which, as a female, is definitely good for the soul.

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL! (Yes, it was necessary for me to scream that information.) I also have a $50 gift card in my hot little hand (no, really, it's seriously hot right now) that I'll be sending to one of my readers! Simply leave a comment telling me your own, personal favorite style of jeans before Monday, Steptember 14 rolls around. (Make sure to leave your email address so I can contact you if you win!) Only one entry per person, puh-lease, and I'll announce the winner on Monday. Excited yet? WELL, I AM!

And in case you're bored (or even if you're not) here's the video I made from our party - enjoy!

that one time we got free jeans. from wishcake on Vimeo.

My favorite jeans, for a long time, were Old Navy's low-rise Diva jeans, but I bought a new pair recently and haaaaated them. I could definitely use some new jeans - and your party sounds BALLER!

Hurrah for pretty new jeans and awesome parties! :)

I have to go try those on. I've been searching for a pair of skinnies for what seems like forever. I like the looks of the straight too!

My favorite pair of jeans is a "7 for all mankind". Gorgeous jeans, but so freakin' expensive.

I would love me a new pair of cool jeans from the GAP, for sure, and I would use the gift certificate wisely! :)

This Gap Party sounds awesome, I wouldn't mind going to one sometime.

I remember my first pair of wide-leg jeans. I was in middle school (8th grade, I think) and just coming off the tapered-jeans wave. Anyway, I wore those things OUT. Literally. By mid-high school I had hand sewed a bunch of ridiculous patches on the knees and butt. I probably wore them twice a week. And no one even commented on that fact, but I suspect they did mention it when my back was turned.
And for the record, they were Bongo. And a size 3. Oh the glory days....

anyway, YAY for free jeans.
And when I win, you can contact me at everydaykg @ gmail dot com!

My favorite style of jeans is... ANY STYLE THAT MAKES MY BUTT LOOK GREAT (it is the first thing every lady checks out while trying on jeans, is it not?) AND IS NOT TOO LOW CUT (cleavage is not attractive, period.)

=)

i loooove skinny jeans. I know some people feel so strongly against them, but i have practically no curves, and skinny jeans actually make me look like i am a 24-year-old woman instead of a 12-year-old boy.

e. corcoran said...

so first off let me say i completely agree with you about being a cheapskate with clothing. why pay more when it can look like a billion bucks and you got it at "Tar-get" or some thrift shop. Still, I completely agree with you about jeans. I think I have a sick obsession...

I dont like one brand in general, it just depends. For me, I like trouser denim. I feel like they are so classy and feminine looking, espeially with a cute pair of heels. Stacey London from What Not to Wear would probably also agree that they are the most flattering on my body type, because they 'elongate the leg.'

dark wash! they are so easy to dress up for a night out!

(also, i'd love any pair of jeans that tells me i'm a size smaller than i am. gap sure knows the way to a womans heart!!)

Kerri, this is awesome another giveaway?!! Now you are just too cool for the pool!! LOL! I know, I know please don't kill me. ;)
Anyways, my all time favorite style of jeans are "Bootcut". They are a timeless fashion staple that deflects attention away from your waist, hips, and thighs. Plus this classic style is best for the "fuller" figured (which I am).
So bootcut jeans foreverrrrrr!!! ;)

for a while i used to only buy abercrombie straight leg jeans because they were the only place i could find that fit perfectly in the length and waist. but they are SOOOO expensive and really not that great quality. so then i moved to forever 21 and surprisingly they fit pretty well, and hello? 12 dollars! i like their dark wash skinny style best.

My favorite jeans have to be boyfriend jeans. I had a pair from A&F that I wore until they literally fell apart one day.

I am very jealous of your party. Sounds like it was awesome!

So my favorite jeans were a pair I bought at Target a couple years ago and I haven't been able to find them since. So now I'm thinking I should check out the Gap! Of course I'm expecting a baby in about 6 1/2 weeks, so I've been sporting the maternity jeans! I'm soooo ready to wear regular clothes again.

I have to admit that I found some really cute maternity skinny jeans at motherhood. Sounds strange right? How can skinny and maternity go together? Well they do and I feel like one hot mama when I wear them!

Courtney Hope said...

Ok. Like seriously. I, too, am IN LOVE with the new Gap jeans... and no, i'm not just saying this to try to score your gift card (except that I really do want to score that gift card)... but the curvy style born to fit really are my new favs...

they just make me feel better, and that is worth every penny I have (all 1000 of them ;))

um.... I don't have a favorite pair of jeans. Jeans are something that I've never really conquered. In fact, I only own ONE PAIR right now and I don't even like them.
I know, shocking, right??
I've been waiting to buy a good pair of jeans until I get my booty back into shape after having the baby. But I've been working pretty hard at that for a while now and I think I'm realizing that, well, my booty may never be the same again.
So, long story short, I neeeeeeeeeeeed this gift card so I can go buy my booty some fabulous jeans. The end.

ps. you're awfully cute. and I'm so excited you're doing a review blog!

Wow, thats seriously exciting! I would totally love to do something like that! And not just for the free clothes...
But I love their Curvy and Always Skinny styles that are featured on the website.

My favorite pair of jeans I have ever owned {and that I currently own now} are bootleg cut jeans from Banana Republic. They fit my bottom perfectly {miracle because I have a flat little but} and they make my thundery thighs look like little skinny goddesses. Whenever I wear them I have that little extra boost.

And PS: I am all about free jeans. It makes life better.

my favorite type of jean is the EXACT pair that you have on. As far as brands go, I'm either a cheapie kind of girl or an AE girl. I'll shop for hours without reading the tags just to find a pair that fits right. Seven? What does that even mean?

And I believe I need to be added to the list of bloggers that can be in LA in an hour flat and go to cooool GAP parties!

But I must say I was tangoing with the idea of buying the boyfriend style jeans from the gap just the other day. They are super cute!

My favorite jeans EVER were a pair of Mossimo jeans my aunt bought me when I was in Jr. High. They were my first "name-brand" jeans (back when Mossimo was in the fancy department stores)and I was convinced I was the coolest girl around. Eventually they just became worn and super comfy, and I still have them today, 18yrs later, though they're not *quite* as comfy as they used to be!! Usually, though, I rely on Express to keep me in some cuter, sexier, and less hole-y pants :)

Internet Therapy said...

I have yet to find that perfect pair of jeans. Like you, I too, am a complete cheapo when it comes to clothes which is probably the reason I lack the perfect pair. Apparently they don't carry the "perfect pair" at Ross or Marshall's, huh?

Which is why I need, need, need this gift certificate. Those skinnys you have on are fab and if I can get 'em in a size 2, then that means they are a necessity!

So you can send them to: morgan@morganhainesgraphicdesign.com

My favorite jeans were the Essential Fit at the Gap, but I'm pretty sure that they discontinued them in favor of the new styles. So I definitely need that giftcard to find my new pair. Especially since I'm dropping pants sizes rapidly and will quickly be too small for all the size 10s I bought when the Essentials were on sale.

i love jeans! however, i'm very short and it's always a huge task for me to find jeans that are the right length and shape. i generally prefer a more fitted jean, i suppose the skinny jean is the best type of jean for my frame. i've tried on different styles and they usually overwhelm my frame!

i'm studying to earn my degree at our university, so money is tight due to being in school. that being said, i pinch pennies when it comes to shopping. i don't like having to do it because i do enjoy shopping for clothes, but you have to do what you have to do!

i love the gap and it would be nice to add a few things to my small collection! lovely! and thank you :)

i am 4' 10 and 3/4 inches tall and it is SUPER difficult to find jeans.
My favorite jeans that I've ever found were diesel jeans, style: hush. they were just perfect. and only $30 from a second hand shop. i wore them till they had holes in the knees.

love the new blog!

Woohoo fun stuff! I won jeans through Chels and Sues at We are not martha from their born to fit party giveaway. Just posted about my shopping trip yesterday!

I love your jeans! The top is very flattering as well. This is a great outfit.
