This is a sponsored review from BlogHer and Stouffer's.
I suppose it isn't news to most of you that I spend most of my weekdays either in traffic or at work. The fact that I'm gone nearly eleven hours Monday through Friday doesn't exactly allow for me to channel my inner Giada. (Which is highly unfortunate because I had always assumed I was going to be a brilliant cook and, well, that hasn't exactly happened. YET. I am fairly sure there is another season in my life that will allow me the time and practice to come up with a signature dish.)
Anyhow, depending on who is home first in the evening, Jay and I will take turns making dinner for each other. It's rarely something fancy, rarely something original, rarely eaten at the table - but it's still that one time of the day where things are always the same. Comfortable, calm, happy.
I was rather excited when I was contacted about reviewing the new Stouffer's Sautes for Two. Honestly, it's right up our alley. I couldn't wait to make the meal for Jay and see if it tasted as good as it looked. (Spoiler alert: It did.) By the time I had set the table, made us both salads, toasted the garlic bread and served up the Grilled Chicken and Asiago Tortelloni skillet meal, Jay was all, "IS IT TIME TO EAT YET?"
And then he was all, "Hey, isn't this supposed to be a romantic dinner? Here. Let's add a candle to the table."
Apparently I don't give the guy enough credit for romance. It was the perfect touch, if you ask me.
Anyhow, we actually took the time to enjoy our dinner at the table, talking about our days and sipping wine (water for me). I'm happy to report the skillet meal is definitely something we would pick up again. I always get excited when I find a quick and easy meal that I would actually order at a restaurant. The tortelloni were cheesy and fantastic and the sauce was just amazing. Such a delicious dinner (and I must say the company was quite refreshing after a long day at work).
So, now it's your turn! Tell me how you manage to make a regular night in just a bit more romantic and special. (Bonus points if you don't tell me that you actually channel your inner Giada because then I'll just feel bad. Okay, just kidding...I'll try to be happy for you. I promise.)

We often end the evening with a cup of decaf or a glass of wine together on the front patio bench. We get to unwind and reconnect and it keeps our relationship feeling strong- and to me, that's romantic :-)
We ALWAYS sit down at the table together and talk about our days. Bonus points if the TV is off, though. :)
To make a night in more special, we actually eat at the table (as opposed to sitting in front of the tv, which happens more than I'd like to admit!) And sometime add a bottle of champagne...just cuz! Those nights are my favorite :-)

Right now I just live with my roommate, so if I'm feeling up to it after work I'll try and cook for the both of us! It's much more fun to eat with somebody.
My roomie and I take turns cooking too - I wish we cooked more but laziness gets the best of us! :)

That looks good!! Hmm, I'll need to add this to my grocery list now.
Hmmm. After being single for a year, I've just recently started seeing someone special, so I'm a little rusty on the romantic dinners. But I noticed that last night we went out and since we were sitting next to each other at a bar, were able to touch each other. Nothing gross or over the top, just holding hands or rubbing shoulders and whatnot. That felt very romantic to me, even though we were in a bar.
Sorry for getting swoony. I'm just falling for him! Anyway, here's my tweet:

To make our nights in a bit more special, my boyfriend and I buy a bottle of wine (Barefoot Moscato is my favorite) and whip out the nice stemware. We also light some candles, and if we're feeling especially fancy, we have warm pastries for dessert :)
putting away the computer, setting aside time just for him. :) it's that easy.
I also love those skillet meals - so yummy!
I just ate dinner and now I'm hungry again. yum!
Scotte and I are on the other end of the spectrum (empty nesters 'cause the ungrateful fledglings have flown.) I'm working at coming up with new and fun dinner ideas. The most romantic? When I get home after a long day and Scotte has fixed dinner for me!

Mmm...looks delicious
to make our dinner more romantic we make an effort to sit at the TABLE! now that we have our girls it is harder to have a romantic dinner. but we try!
Well, I am single and I live alone so I do absolutely nothing to make dinner romantic! I do try to make a nice meal for myself once a week, but even when I do that, I still tend to eat it in front of the television. Lame!
When I am dating someone, though, I use candles to make it more romantic.

I make a regular night more romantic by adding candles to the dinner table too :) (doniree at gmail dot com)
Candles. Candles makes anything more romantic. Candles with dinner. Candles in the bathroom. Candles while watching Battlestar Galatica. So romantic. :)
Does turning off the TV count? Seriously the hubs and I NEVER bother to have a romantic meal so simply shutting the TV off would be a really great step in the right direction.
I always love adding wine, though sadly I don't think that will help you much right now.

Even thought I live and eat alone, I try to eat at the table with a place setting and something on the tables to spice it up.
My boyfriend and j take turns as well. I love to use my crockpot and rice cooker. Probably a little too much! Thanks for the giveaway!
the BF and I rarely find time to sit and have a nice meal between the two of us. i've recently started getting cookinglight magazines and cooking meals that I've folded the pages on the weekends when we can sit and eat together.
These sound right up my alley! My boyfriend & I have come up with a few meals we make regularly - tacos, chili, spaghetti, risotto (uh, from a box). We try to mix it up every now & then, feel like adults & make it sort of special, by picking a real recipe - usually from the Top Chef website! - to attempt to make. And if we fail, we return to Kraft mac & cheese & a bottle of Jameson. ;) How's THAT for romantic?
We make meals special by eating meals together and talking about our day and sometimes making meals together too.

Our favorite thing to do when the weather gets warmer is to have dinner on the patio. We talk about life, watch the sunset on the mountains, and listen to the birds go to bed for the night. A glass of wine or two doesn't hurt either!
Hmmm, it's been awhile since I've had a romantic dinner at home. But I really do think a bouquet of flowers in the center of the table add just the right amount of romantic flair. (Bonus points if they're purchased for you, but I'm a happy "I'm buying these flowers for myself, so there!" sort of girl, too.)
(kladish(at)gmail(dot)com.)
Our romantic meal: Anything that makes the house smell delicious and is semi-easy. The less time it takes to prepare the better. After the meal is ready we choose a movie, grab some wine, and head into the living room where we cozy up and enjoy eachothers company.
There is simply nothing better than being cozy with the person you love, drinking wine, eating delicious food, and watching a movie.
I make dinner for 2 eomantic with a special dessert
tieleedee36@yahoo.com
that looks so yummy. we love easy dinners.
to make a night-in more fancy, we pick a new recipe and make dinner together - instead of the usual 'first one home starts dinner' routine.
then, we actually sit at our dinner table (instead of the couch).
thanks for the chance to win...and for the new meal to try. :)
Jen and I will often make a dinner romantic by first cooking that dinner together, than relaxing with soft lighting and a funny or interesting TV show we like. We eat slowly, drink wine, talk a lot and relax afterward with more wine or a good hookah smoke. It's so lovely! ♥
I am single, so no romantic dinner, but I am going to try the STOUFFER'S Sautés. It looks real like they are realy good.

We don't really dig on the whole "romance" thing, but our conflicting work schedules and the influx of friends/family constantly streaming through our house make any night we are both home to cook (usually something Indian in nature) together and just for each other is part of our sweet nights alone.
-K
My favorite evenings at home involve sharing a meal at the table with the television off! The best nights are when we continue to chat for a while even after we are finished eating. At the end of a long day it feels so great to reconnect with the person you love the most!
The Boyfriend and I will often times take our dinner outside onto our tiny deck. We have a lovely cherry blossom tree that we love to eat under. Add a glass of wine to dinner and it feels oh so nice, at least in the spring season. Any time we get to eat with just the two of us around is special though, since we have two other roommates.
My husband and I like to cook dinner together. It is nice to create something together and if gives us a time to talk.
My favorite summer nights are special because we replace our usual dinner with cheese, crackers, and a bottle of wine enjoyed on our patio.

When we try a new recipe, we always hang out in the kitchen together (well, my husband basically watches me while I prepare everything but he is so cute at watching. Seriously!) and eat at our dining room table, talk about life and have a beer or two. :)
Dessert! Doesn't dessert make everything more special?
janssen.everyday at gmail dot com
I like to add a sparkling drink (alcoholic or not, whatever you're in the mood for). It makes any meal seem fancified! janet at loveisblonde dot com :)
Ah, single girl here so nothing romantic happening in the evenings. :) But to make it more special, a nice dessert to end a meal usually makes me a happy girl.
lower the lights, and use candles - instant romance! :)
We usually cook together anyways, so my favorite way of making a night more romantic is to spontaneously decide to go out to dinner to some kind of sit-down establishment... and it can be anything from Taco Bell to the fancy sushi place downtown. Having people wait on us while we sit across from each other like we did a lot when we were first dating gives us a chance to rekindle the romance :)

I love to cook. But, you're right, it is time consuming. On weekdays, I try to cook with high quality fresh ingredients, which don't take too much time to put together. For example, pasta topped with roasted asparagus takes minutes to make! Any roasted vegetable makes my husband happy :)
You make me feel better because your dinners sound just like ours. I'm also gone 11-12 hours a day and exhausted when I get home (especially since I've been pregnant)! That Stouffer's meal looks really good and I think I'll try it out.
We don't go to extremes to make our weeknights special, but it's nice when we actually sit down at the table and talk. :)
Definitely candles, maybe some music...no tv, just good conversation and lots of laughter!
I'm widowed, so no romantic dinners, but I'd love to try these :)

I'm a candle whore to begin with so they are pretty much burning at all times in my apartment, but there is something about adding them to the dinner table that just sets a lovely mood. Adding wine is key, too. My boyfriend and I are bigger beer drinkers, so it kicks it up a notch to add a bottle of red.

I'm not very good at seeing/taking opportunities to make our nights together more special. My husband and I work at the same company, so it feels like we spend 24 hours a day together, even though we don't actually interact much at work. Anyway, when I DO manage to think ahead a little, I like to light a couple of taper candles or get some strawberries and cover them in chocolate for a romantic (and, okay, delicious) dessert!
I have two boys, and sometimes, I let them help me plan.....decorate the table, set the table, and sometimes they even "serve us"...very fun!
With our schedules so far off, just about any dinner together that isn't microwaved is romantic for us.

Both of us are a bit of heath freaks, especially when it comes to food, so we spend quality time by cooking together. Our work hours are often long and unpredictable, but we still make it a point to cook together, especially on weekends, when we often prepare our meals for the week.

well we don't get it as much as we'd like but just being able to have a nice meal after the kids have gone to be is nice:)

My husband and I are both retired but had to go back to work part time to pay the bills. I don't try to make dinner romantic but he knows that I'm in the mood if I'm all fixed up you know hair makeup and clean clothes sometimes its just jeans but he knows. Dinner for two sounds and looks good we do still eat in front of the tv so I'll look for it at the supermarket
blogged it...
your wishcake (reviews!).: on a (delicious) dinner in...
I like candles, he does sometimes. I like wine he prefers diet pepsi. That's our romantic nights.
I make a regular night special by adding some candlelite and some soft music to dinnertime!

Thank you!
Can't say there's too much romance going on right now with 3 small kids, but I do try to make dinners special at times. We put on a table cloth and use some pretty plates. The kids think it's awesome.

I will have to try it!
oh my YUM. a regular night is me eating kraft dinner on the couch while my husband is at work. sometimes i dress up and light myself a candle and pour an extra glug into my wine glass. that's pretty special. :)
Oh crud, we're not very romantic... Usually I say something sweet (like, "You're very handsome") and he wink at me and gives some smart aleck reply (like, "I know"). :P
But I guess I would say that if we want to have a romantic night in, we have dinner and conversation at the table together, then cuddle up on the couch and watch a movie.
We have a six month old and haven't figured out this whole sleep training thing yet. So, romance for us has been altered to include a bottle of wine, something quick and easy like grilled cheese, and a movie with a baby sitting between us on the couch. But our idea of love has grown so much since she arrived that we're more than content to share these times with her.
To make an ordinary night a little more romantic, I make a home cooked dinner that I know is his favorite. Also, I try to get him to eat at the table and not in front of the television!
